What Is Evaporative Cooling?

Concept:

Evaporative coolers work by using water to cool the air. This method has been popular since ancient times . With the growing impact of global warming everywhere, more people are starting to use evaporative cooling. A long time ago, people in Egypt , India and Arab countries would hang damp clothes on their doors and windows. This was to cool the air coming in through evaporation. When hot air touches the wet clothes, the water in them evaporates. This process takes in heat from the air, making it cooler.

Evaporative cooling is a natural and efficient process for cooling air using the evaporation of water. This method works on the principle that as water evaporates, it absorbs heat from the surrounding environment, thereby reducing the air temperature. Inside these coolers, a pump circulates water from the reservoir onto a cooling pad, which in turn becomes completely wet. A fan then pulls air from outside into the cooler through this wet pad. As the air goes through the pad, it cools down because of evaporation. The key to effective evaporative cooling is ensuring that each of the cooling pads is completely saturated at all times during operation and that the system fan and motor are sized and designed to deliver the appropriate airflow for the home.

Benefits

Evaporative cooling units cool the 100% fresh air using only water, without any chemicals. They use only a fraction of the electricity used by regular air conditioners, which is good for the environment and helps save energy. Even when it’s hot outside, these coolers use the same amount of electricity and still bring in fresh, cool air. This is different from normal air conditioners, which need more power when it gets hotter.

The hotter it is, the better evaporative coolers work, and they also save more money compared to normal air conditioners. These coolers are great for big places like warehouses or factories, where regular air conditioning is too expensive to install and run. They use very little electricity and don’t have a compressor, which keeps running costs low. Evaporative coolers always use fresh air from outside. Having fresh air from the outside is important for making buildings healthy and comfortable to be in. These coolers keep bringing in new air, which pushes out the old air inside through doors, windows, or ventilation systems. This is good for keeping the air inside fresh and clean.

An Overview

Evaporation cools air by using energy from the air itself. There are three key temperatures to understand in evaporative cooling systems:

Dry Bulb Temperature

The dry bulb temperature is the air temperature measured using a standard thermometer. It is the temperature reported in daily weather forecasts and is sometimes referred to as the ambient air temperature.

The wet bulb temperature also uses a standard thermometer; however, a wet piece of cloth covers the bulb of the thermometer. As air passes over the wet cloth, the water in the cloth evaporates, drawing heat out of the thermometer. If the air is very humid (moist), only a small amount of moisture will evaporate from the cloth. This means the wet bulb temperature will only be a little lower than the dry bulb temperature. Conversely, if the humidity of the air is low (dry), the moisture will evaporate from the cloth quickly. This means that the wet bulb temperature will be much lower than the dry bulb temperature.

The dew point temperature is the air temperature where the moisture in the air begins to condense or change from a vapor to a liquid. In order for a surface to collect dew out of the air (like a glass of ice water or blade of grass), the temperature of that surface must be at or below the dew point temperature. The dew point temperature is always the coldest of the three temperatures.

Evaporation happens when the air isn’t fully saturated with humidity, meaning it’s under 100% humidity and can take in more water. The amount of water vapor air can hold varies, and how much it absorbs depends on how much water it already contains. Changing water from liquid to vapor needs energy. In evaporative cooling, this energy comes from the air itself, in a process called adiabatic cooling. As air moves through an evaporative cooler, it gives up heat to turn water into vapor. This process reduces the dry bulb temperature of the air.

Is Breezair Provide 100% Fresh Air?

Breezair is also Based on the simple principles of evaporation, hot outside air is pumped through water-soaked pads called Chillcel® pads. As the air blows through the Chillcel pads, the water evaporates and the heat in the air is absorbed, which lowers the air temperature. A fan then pushes the cool air through the building via a ducting system. Breezair cooling units feature a patented centrifugal fan, which can also be used in fan-only mode (no water) to blow fresh air through the vents. It is important to remember that cooled air inside the building is not recirculated, so doors or windows must be left open for this air to escape, or extraction fans need to be installed. It has advanced technology developed by Breezair that combines to achieve the highest cooling performance of any evaporative cooler on the market.
